| ウィリアム・B・イェイツの詩集「音楽のために」から「お叱りを受けるクレージージェーン」Crazy Jane Reproved（壺齋散人訳） 船乗りたちが何を言おうと 雷の降らす恐ろしい石にせよ 空を掻き曇らす嵐にせよ 天があくびをしただけのこと エウロペーが恋人と思って 雄牛を抱いたのはご愛嬌 どれもこれも つまらんことさ 巻貝の渦巻き模様をまわしながら そちこちの秘められた道に 真珠貝をちりばめたりすれば 天の継ぎ目が引き裂けるだけ だから口汚い馬の骨なんかに 心を許したりするもんじゃない どれもこれも つまらんことさ ジェーンの肉欲の生活を非難する司教の言葉。馬の骨とはジェーンの恋人ジャックを指す。司教はこういいながら、嫉妬していることがほのめかされている。 |
