| エミリー・ディキンソンの詩から「夏 鳥たちに遅れて（Farther in summer than the birds）」（壺齋散人訳） 夏 鳥たちに遅れて 草むらで悲しそうに 小さな者たちの一団が 控えめなミサを執り行う 聖餐式は見られず 恩寵は緩やかに現れ ついには愁いの儀式となる 寂しさを深めながら 真昼なのに古めかしい感じ 八月が燃え尽きようとしてるとき この幽玄な聖歌が湧き起こって 静けさを現してるようだから 恩寵が消えたわけではなく 輝きも衰えてはいないけど はやドルイド僧のような趣に 自然が変っていくのを感じる ディキンソン自身が手紙の中でこの詩をMy Cricket と呼んでいるように、コオロギの歌う様子をミサに譬えたものである。コオロギたちは夏の終わりに、鳥たちに遅れるようにして現れる。 ドルイドは、ケルト人社会における宗教指導者のこと |
