| エミリー・ディキンソンの詩から「小鳥が道に下りてくると（A bird came down the walk）」（壺齋散人訳） 小鳥が道に下りてくると 私が見ているのを知らずに ミミズをふたつに引きちぎって 生のままたべてしまった それから手ごろな草から 一滴の露をすすっては 壁の方へと横ずさりしたけど それはカブトムシを通してあげるため 瞳をすばしこく動かしては あたりをせわしなく観察した まるで驚いたビーズ玉のよう ビロードの頭もせわしなく動く まるで危険にさらされてるみたいに そしてわたしが一切れのパン屑をやると その小鳥は羽根を広げて 自分を静かに漕いで行った 銀色の波と見まがうオールが 波をかき分けるよりそっと 真昼の土手を飛び立ったチョウチョが 音もなく飛び回るより静かに 小鳥が飛ぶ様子を、船を漕ぐイメージとしてとらえている。そこからオールの比喩が出てくるとともに、その頼りげない様子がチョウチョの飛翔と結びつくのだろう |
